UMAN Kickoff Grappling Tournament.!!!
Sup everyone. Jerry here to let you know that there will be a NO-GI Grappling tournament @ the Rahway Recreation Center on March 30th in Rahway, NJ.
Registration fee is $50
Competitors can compete in the regular competitions as well as the absolute division @ no extra cost.
Plus we will be giving out $500 Cash to the winner of the absolute division.
Trophies will be given out to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places through out the day.

UMAN is an organization that will start rating grapplers throughout the USA. Be part of history with the 1st UMAN rated Grappling tournament.

RULES AND WEIGHTS BELOW:
Men’s Weight Classes:
18 years - older
- Heavyweight - 205+
- Lightheavyweight - 204.9
- Middleweight - 184.9
- Welterweight - 169.9
- Lightweight - 154.9
- Featherweight - 144.9
- Bantamweight - 129.9-
Women’s Open Division
18 - older
SKILL SETS
- DIVISION 1 = 3 years or more of grappling training
- DIVISION 2 = More than 1 year and less than 3 years of grappling training
- DIVISION 3 = Less than 1 year of grappling training
- Wrestling is a grappling art. If you have trained in wrestling for more than a year, you should NOT be in DIVISION 3
- Points are awarded for all legal positions, takedowns and submission attempts with at least 3 seconds of control.
- Each Match will consist of one 5 minute round with a sudden victory overtime of 2 minutes. Whoever scores first on sudden victory wins the match
Scored Positions and techniques:
- 4 points - Full mount, Backmount
- 3 Points - Passing the guard
- 2 Points - Takedowns, Sweeps
- -1, -2… - Penalties
Illegal Techniques and tactics:
- Striking of any kind
- Eye Gouging, Fishhooking, Biting, Spitting, Hair pulling, Groin strikes, headbutting
- Slamming with intent to hurt or maim opponent will be an automatic disqualification
- Small joint manipulations
- Neck Cranks in Division 2 and 3
- Submissions below the waist in Division3
- Heel hooks in Division 2 and 3
- Grabbing the Throat (larynx)
- Running out of the matted or Ring area
- Stalling will result in a warning, 2nd offense will award 2pts to opponent, 3rd offense is a DQ
- Disrespecting officials will be an automatic disqualification and a suspension from Submission Challenge tournaments of up to 6 months
- Using Clothing as weapons against your opponent
- Faking an injury to get one up on your opponent
- Pretending to tap so your opponent can let go of a submission hold can be grounds for an automatic Stoppage by the Referee in which will be considered a technical submission loss
- Foul play, Disrespecting your opponent or his/her camp, coaches, fans, family members will result in a DQ and 3 month suspencion
