How is the site free? Do you ever intend to charge for service?
It is our belief that the only way to make this type of website great is to offer it free of charge. If we decided to charge for any aspect of the site it would result in only selective events being posted and as such would be far from definitive. This is the reason we will never charge users for accounts or promoters for promoting their events.

If everything is free how do you make money?
Currently, the site is ad-supported, and that is only to pay for hosting cost. This website wasn't created to make money but was rather created out of the desire to aggregate and centralize tournament/seminar/show information across the internet. Simply put - we ourselves were sick of missing events due to availability of information. However, if you'd like to make a donation for all the hard work we've put forth ...

How are the "Most Anticipated Events" determined?
This section of the website is determined by favorites. We take a look at all the upcoming events count the number of people that have added them as their favorite, and if that event is in the top five of all upcoming event it makes the cut (the numbers displayed after the event in this section is the number of people who have added this event as their favorite).

What are subscriptions and how do I use them?
Subscriptions are a feature of the site that is available to all users. When you access the subscriptions menu you are given the a form by which you can create a set of rules that describes the type of events that you are interested in. From here - your subscriptions are available to you in 3 main forms:
  • Website (via The Browse->Subscribed Menu)
  • Email
  • RSS Feed

How do I get subscriptions emailed to me?
You can turn on the subscription email feature from the subscriptions page by clicking on the link which reads "Turn Daily Email Notification On". Once on, at the end of each day we determine which events are new which match your subscription rules and email them directly to you.

What is an RSS feed? And how do I access it?
RSS is a format that allows you to get your subscriptions through an RSS reader. You can learn more here. Once you've got the basics down you can either use your news reader/browse to discover the feed automatically (only available once you've logged in), or you can click on the link in the subscription menu.

I've added the RSS feed, but it only ever contains the items on the news page?
We actually have 2 feeds available on our site, the news feed and the subscription feed. When you add the RSS feed make sure you are logged in and select the subscription feed instead of the news feed. Alternatively - There's no harm in having both so you can stay up to date with what's going on.

I created an event, and it doesn't appear in the Browse->All list or Browse->Subscribed list?
The All and Subscribed sections of the Browse menu will only show future events. So if you've created an event which took place in the past it will not come up in your search results. However - the event stays in the system and will not be removed from any favorite lists or from your My Events section. The event may also not appear due to a filter which you have applied to the current results.

Why don't you implement                      feature?
We'd love to implement                  , you just need to contact us and tell us about it and we may add it when we upgrade the site.

I'd like to advertise on your site, is this possible?
We are currently evaluating several options for those who wish to advertise on the site, if you are interested please contact us at .

What did you use to make the site and who provides your hosting?
The site was built using Ruby On Rails and is currently hosted by Dreamhost. If you're looking for a hosting company Dreamhost is great - and by signing up using the preceding link I can get a referral bonus which helps me out with hosting costs. (i.e. please use the preceding link)
